"Life and Times of a Pandemic Musician"

2022 Words to Live By 05/30/22

Now that my demise no longer looms imminent, I took the time to codify the pithy words, catch phrases, and aphorisms that I strive to live by. But nobody's perfect! Welcome to another excerpt from my memoirs, "Life and Times of a Pandemic Musician." B-|

Why make the same mistake when you can always make new ones. That seems rather obvious!

Look at the glass as half full. Things can always get worse.

Walk the walk, don't just talk the talk. Keep in mind gratitude doesn't appear inborn or in anybody's self-interest.

No good deed goes unpunished. Self explanatory.

Only your friends can betray you. Think about it.

A tiger doesn't change its stripes. Sit back and wait for their true colors to emerge.

"All You Need Is Love." But opt out of living as someone's second or secret choice.

"Love the One You're With." From my experience, no woman wants to sleep with a nice guy.

The penis wants what the penis wants. Never predictable and never consistent.

You can pick your nose but you can't pick your family. Much of the time I feel closer to my brothers and sisters from another mother.

Karma's a bitch. But it doesn't punch a time clock so don't hold your breath...

No one's half Black or half Jewish. Just think of President Obama and Bob Marley. My two kids came from the union of a Jew and a Presbyterian. When Hitler gets reincarnated, they gone. :'-(

How do you unlock your creativity? Alcohol, marijuana, meditation, Yoga, exercise, something else? What unleashes your inner Beast?

Moderation's the key to success and longevity. Abstinence Sucks. So does dying as a "Candle in the Wind."

Maximum exposure. Throw the shit against the fan and see what sticks. Sharks need to move constantly to keep breathing. So do I.

Give a person a fish, and you feed'em for a day. Teach them to fish and you feed'em for a lifetime. And s/he never bothers you again!

Move when you groove. Dance to the music you make. And remember, there's no Funk in Reggae!

In Corporate America, if someone wants your opinion they give it to you!

Though I never served in the military, I live by the Marine Corp mantra -- "Adapt, improvise, and overcome!"

Death by a thousand tiny cuts. That's how growing old feels. You lose a little more of the pleasures you love every day. Got to hustle to find new ones!

God can't be a woman. He doesn't multi-task well enough! How do you answer the simultaneous prayers of billions of people every day? Oh I get it. You're "special."

So on Memorial Day 2022, I give thanks to all who served our country. As well as to the two actual days it didn't rain here in White Plains, NY! I continue to search for a way to sublimate my anger and rage at "The Machine." Trying to live life not overwhelmed by my increasing limitations. Hoping to find love one last time. So I reach out to Bob Marley while reviewing the bass line to his classic, "Lively Up Yourself!" One <3
