"Life and Times of a Pandemic Musician"

Smooth Bass 05/10/20

A while back, I asked my drumming partner of twenty years, Rudy Feinauer, how could I improve my bass playing. He replied, "Nothing. You sound just fine." But when I pressed him for the smallest tip, he suggested I attack each note more evenly and smoothly. Welcome to another excerpt from my memoirs, "Life and Times of a Pandemic Musician."

So today on Mother's Day 2020 in the midst of the Plague, I address this issue with the perfect vehicle, Albert King's "King of the Blues Guitar" -- an album full of simple bass lines that require the perfect feel! Rudy and I often play "Born Under a Bad Sign" with different groups. But we've jokingly changed the lyrics to, "If it wasn't for bad health, we wouldn't have no health at all," LOL!

So today as my mom watches over me from above (I'm sure with plenty of suggestions and a tinge of disappointment), I strive to smooth out my music as well as my life! Happy Mother's Day to all. One <3
