2022 Live and Let Die 08/01/22

I can't live without a woman, barbecued steak smothered in fried onions, crispy french fries, smoked ribs doused in hot sauce, charcoal grilled burgers on toasted buns all washed down with tequila, vodka, or rum. Let's not forget Sushi, Thai food, and Peking duck! You get the picture. But to stay alive, I forgo all that and stick to eating raw vegetables, fish, chicken, turkey, and drinking beer. Not sure how long I can keep it up. ;-)

A word of advice to all you young studs. Easy for a carefree, footloose, young man to go through women like a roll of paper towels. Just toss and replace when she gives you the least bit of trouble. But don't just keep trading in last year's model for a shiny new one. Learn how to love and maintain a real relationship. Cuz one day you may very well end up infirm, ugly, sick, and alone... :-(

Never quite figured out how to love properly and blew my many chances. Learned way too late in life about the importance of love, family, and community. B-|

It's a year since I stopped radiation and chemo for Prostate Cancer and got diagnosed NED -- no evidence of disease. Time now for another PSA test. But here's the catch. My quality of life sucks due to diabetes, heart disease, and the collateral damage from all the God awful treatment drugs. I wake up every morning sad and feeling worse than I did the day before. Crying jags continue throughout the day. :{

So I'm in no hurry to test again. It really makes no difference because if the cancer comes back, I will refuse all treatment. I'd rather go out as half a man than a full eunuch. >:[

See, there's no hope of me falling in love and finding happiness ever again. Here's a couple of stories I shared with my sister Liz when she told me to call off my pity party. :-||

A woman that I hung out with over this spring and really dug, told me one day, "I really like you. It's too bad you're so ill." Then went off and started an affair with one of my friends. :'-(

Here's another illuminating tale. Every Wednesday night I play bass at a local White Plains Jam where I hang out with my friend Anna. It gets crowded and many times when I walk over to her, I accidentally step on her feet. She always punches me in the arm, complains, and yells at me. Each time, I apologize and explain that diabetes left me with no feeling in my feet except for constant pain. :<

Last week, she says, "I don't want to upset you, but your breath smells really bad." She's not the first woman to complain about that. I explain that I brush and floss my teeth incessantly as well as use mouthwash. She asks, "So what's the problem?" "That's the smell of death." Add to that incontinence, impotence, insomnia, fading eyesight, hearing, and inability to write because of hand tremors. How do I sell that? ;)

Lucky I can still walk and play the bass! And on that note, let me leave off with some good news. Picked up a new, $300 Indonesian Fender Squier Affinity 5-String Bass and I love it! That low B string really suits my playing and sounds like a fat, Persian long-hair cat purring at maximum volume. Perfect for Reggae! :-}

Speaking of which, I just landed a new Thursday night Jam at Joey's in Port Chester, NY with Lenny Hines and Glenn Leach from the Worla Roots Band. Come through MASSIVE! One <3
